I’ve known Derek for as long as I can remember. We played just about every school sport together, to varying degrees of success. And for all that time, Derek’s #1 thing in life was the trilogy Ghostbusters (see photo montage for proof), it’s weird to see it become his #2. I was so excited for Derek when I found out he was engage to Amanda, she’s incredible.
Beautiful locations and amazing couples make our lives easy! Not only were Mike and Courtney amazing to be with, but the whole wedding party was a riot!
We are big fans of the movie Top Gun, and were happy to see Mike’s groomsmen were too (shirtless guy in pants playing volleyball). Also, The Brian Alexander Experience was one of the best bands we’ve seen this year!
We met Jason only a few weeks ago, when he was the usher at Peter and Julie’s wedding (who incidentally was a groomsmen from Chris and Wendy’s wedding where we showed the paint the dress video). Jason was actually in charge of driving me (Shelby) around the golf course during the photo session (while I was hanging halfway out of the cart to get some pretty sweet footage), but at the time they weren’t even thinking about getting a video. That is, until they saw our same day edit.
We’re so glad they did!
A week or two later we all met up at Mr. B’s to chat about their video. Like PB & J, they also wanted some sort of love story but said they didn’t do anything cool together! So they told us about their hobbies (mainly fishing), we all brainstormed over dinner and then called it a night. A week later we met up at Cranbrook and got some GORGEOUS footage (well you saw the video right? ) of them fishing, walking around the grounds, and enjoying each other’s company. Then we headed back to Jason’s house to film the pizza making portion. We really wanted to feature this because we thought it was super adorable when Kristina told us that she only eats her pizza sans cheese and she knew Jason was the one for her when he ordered his pizza without cheese too (unbeknownst to him!). They had gotten all of the ingredients, but before they even started making it, they ordered some pizza from somewhere else because they warned us that whatever they made it wouldn’t be edible! LOL! So we ended up eating the delivery pizza first, along with some Badass beer, and then making the homemade pizza last. So anyone who heads over to their place for homemade pizza – you’ve been warned!!
To get them to talk openly about how they met, what they first thought of each other, and so on – we separated them into different rooms and grilled them with questions! What you see in the video is only a minute fraction of what we really got! But even this part was really fun for Aaron and I, because not only did we get to see them together earlier that day, but now we were seeing their true feelings for each other come out. We know that all of our couples are in love, but actually hearing how, where, and why they fell in love – that’s truly amazing!
So then comes the wedding day – which everyone knows was sooooooo much fun! It would be hard not to have a great time with that kind of couple! From meeting their bridal party in the morning to playing outside with the sparklers – we had an awesome time taping them and being apart of everything!
Caitlin and Evan were married outdoors at Castle Farms in Charlevoix, Michigan last weekend, and it was absolutely stunning. Caitlin and her father arrived in a sweet Model T car, which was totally awesome! Even though we didn’t get to meet Evan before the wedding, he very quickly became comfortable with us. While training at the naval academy, Evan was lucky to have James (more on this in the trailer) to keep him company while Caitlin was finishing school here in Michigan.
It was also great to work with E.C. Campbellagain, E’lisa is an amazing photographer and we can’t wait to work with her and Chris again!
Kate Elliot loves vintage. So when we we’re asked to join her for MWEP’s Inspiration shoot challenge…we we’re preparing ourselves for a “vintage” theme. Kate did not disappoint!
Laura Allis did an amazing job organizing us creative folk, and brought in some amazing talent.
We call this a Katespiration.

Mike and Nicole are amazing to be with all day. They were so relaxed and just ready to have fun. Their wedding party was such a great collection of wonderful personalities.
There was sooo many highlights of the day…everything from their photographer climbing hotel furniture or Mike spewing beer from his mouth because of an excellent joke.
Shelby and I felt incredibly blessed to be a part of their day!
